"I think about the years I spent just passing through. I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you. But you just smile and take my hand, you've been there you understand. It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true... Now I'm just rolling home. Into my lover's arms. This much I know is true. That God blessed the broken road. That led me straight to you."

Life is Good!
We had another great weekend together. I had to work late Friday because of inventory, but Saturday we got up and spent the afternoon at the park. One of our favorite things to do. Evan said it best - "Everyone wins! The dogs love the park... And we get to be outside with them!" :) Saturday night I had to babysit Addison again. And Evan went fishing with Frankie. Sunday was a nice relaxing day... spent watching movies... and watching a nice thunderstorm roll in!!
It was back to work for me today... And homework for Evan... Although we did get to have a little sushi date and watch Iron Man II cuddled up on the couch. Life is Good!
Evan, Kosar, and Bentley in the lake... Bentley is swimming... Kosar is trying to figure out what is going on...

Cookout
It has been is good weekend... All things considered. We miss Orion greatly. I still catch myself getting ready to call his name. It is weird not having him around...
Today we decided to go to the park with Bentley and Kosar for a cookout. It was a great way to spend Father's Day, since neither one of us is home with our Fathers...
Loves!! :)

Orion, he will forever be in our hearts
Today at 1:00 we had to put one of our babies down, Orion. Orion was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder when he was 3 1/2 years old called Pemphigus. Basically the disorder is when his immune system believes that his skin is foreign and attacks it. I was told at that time that his life span was drastically be reduced. Orion was a German Sheppard, Chow mix and with a life span of 10-12 years, they said he would probably live around 7 years. This disorder can not be cured. It is a genetic disease that he has had his whole life, but it didn't show signs until he was 3 1/2. To "manage" this disease his vet put him on a high dose of steroids to suppress his immune system and an antibiotic so he wouldn't get sick while on these steroids. The goal was to eventually decrease the levels of the steroids and see if we could get this disease to lay dormant in his system. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Orion remained on the steroids for the rest of his life. Any time we would try to decrease them, he would break out horrible and be in a lot of pain.
In Orion's final days; the medicine was no longer working, the disease had spread to his whole body, his bowels were failing, he would get out of breath walking out to the bathroom, he couldn't get comfortable, he was getting grumpy and irritable, his body was just failing him. The vet told us that there were other meds that he could put him on, but he didn't believe that they would work because Orion was no longer responding to such a high dose of steroids that he was on now. He didn't want to put Orion through anymore pain. And neither did we. I felt completely helpless... This was a really tough decision for me and Evan. Today was a very tough day.
Orion would have been 7 years old on August 10th.
I will forever remember bringing Orion home for the first time. I will remember his love for my parents house! He loved to run at their house - They have so much land. He loved sleeping in bed with my daddy... He had such a special bond with my daddy. I will always remember the potty training days... Poor Frankie, he helped with those days. What a great friend! Orion rode shot gun with me so many nights to Maryland... And every day when I come home, he is always there to greet me. Things will definitely be different around the Walker/Hughes household. Orion will be missed greatly.

another weekend...
Another weekend comes to a close... Back to work tomorrow. We had a good weekend though. We took the pups for a walk at the park Friday evening. Kosar even got in the water and splashed around a little! We might have a little (okay - with him weighing 80 pounds at 9 months old, a big) water dog on our hands! After a long walk around the park and splashing in the water - He decided that he was tired and he laid down in the lake. Of course neither one of us had our phones on us so we couldn't take a picture... :(
We got some yard work accomplished Saturday and then Evan went out with the boys and went fishing. This fishing trip tended to be a lot better than the last... Sunday is here and we went to church and Evan took another Math exam. Which of course we all know - he did amazing! :) Well... I hope all is well with everyone!! Below is a picture of one of Evan's little shark's he caught!

Ohio for a couple of days...
We went to Ohio for the a couple of days to see Brandon (Evan's little brother graduate). It was nice to get away and see Evan's family. While we were up there we went to the African Safari (some pictures below). Which was a lot of fun. Me and Evan both had an amazing time. Congratulations to Brandon for graduating from high school! Best of luck in your future endeavors! :)
